The Java-eiland is created by Sjoerd Soeters. He created in narrow streets, narrow houses together with 4 canals, crsooing the island. On the two long sides, you'll find large housing buidlings, while alongside the small canals, there are some 'modern canal houses' built. The little bridges are a creation of two Belgium artists Guy Rombouts and Monica Droste. Near the Verbindingsdam you'll find the huge building 'Hoogtij', one side is in the water. The other new connection with the Java-eiland is over the Jan Schaeferbrug. This bridge is going through the former warehouse 'De Zwijger'.
